Turning Pallet Wood Into Practical Projects
Welcome to Bubba’s Pallet Wood Projects, where I take old, weathered pallet wood and turn it into something both beautiful and useful. Whether you’re a weekend DIYer or someone just getting into woodworking, pallet wood offers a low-cost, rustic way to create home décor, furniture, and functional art.
In my garage workshop, I start each project by breaking down reclaimed pallets, carefully removing nails, and giving each board a good sanding. Some of my favorite builds include:
🪚 1. Rustic Wall Shelves
Perfect for displaying small plants, books, or vintage decor. I cut the boards to size, add a back brace for mounting, and finish them with a light stain to bring out the grain.
🔑 2. Key Holder Flags
These mini wooden flags double as patriotic wall art and handy organizers. I carve the stripes with my CNC machine, paint them with milk paint, and attach key hooks to the bottom.
🌿 3. Planter Boxes
Great for the porch or backyard. I build these boxes using the wider slats from the pallets and line the inside with garden fabric. They’re perfect for herbs, flowers, or even succulents.
🕯️ 4. Lanterns & Candle Holders
Using narrow strips of pallet wood, I craft rustic lanterns with open sides—ideal for LED candles or fairy lights. A great centerpiece for fall and winter décor!
🪑 5. Mini Furniture
I’ve made everything from small stools to entryway benches using nothing but pallet wood, pocket holes, and some creativity.

Each project brings new life to discarded lumber, and no two pieces are ever the same. That’s the beauty of working with reclaimed materials!
